I think I'm more likely to get them a nice char over my Stax T2 electrostatic headphone amp, but not a bad idea either way - sounds tasty!

Of course, but not like I did in my 20s ...

DePeche Mode - It's No Good, I simply cannot play this song loud enough, can you?
Rage Against the Machine - s/t, the whole album ... Sound City sonic masterpiece, just epic cranked!
Roger Waters - Smell the Roses, best RW song in decades ...
Alan Parsons Project - The Gold Bug, BITD we measured 126dB at 15ft in my living room on this one ...
Kraftwerk - Music Non Stop in Dolby Atmos, Ivan - you need to try that one!

The Setting: 90db-sensitive speakers fed by a 125-wpc amp volume-controlled via a 48-step passive attenuator in an 11'x13' acoustically-treated bedroom, with me in a nearfield listening position.

The Program Material: Classical, Jazz, Big Band, "big" Film Scores, Choral, Opera, Vocal Standards.

The attenuator setting depends on the program material's recording level, but has never been set beyond the 27th detent. Neither the amp nor the speakers sound "pushed" at that highest level (i.e., no indications of cone breakup or the amp trying to catch its breath or emitting rude noises), but the ears would file for divorce on the grounds of extreme cruelty if I advanced the control one more step. So I don't.

Oh yes, I do push it when I'm alone which is not frequent enough. These are the

Anything from Blue Nile
Anything from Dire Straits
Anything from Rush
Anything from Genesis
Anything from Marillion
