Gasp!!! That is scary (a la Count Floyd) --no more YG Sonja XVs? Yikes!
I still own them, listening right now to Supertramp, Crime of the Century. There are pics on Boulder's Instagram page. |

I had a long audition at the dealer with them powered by four Audionet Heisenberg monoblocks. Truly amazing soundstage, dynamics, finesse, layering and detail. World class statement speakers for sure. The only thing that was surprising was that even with the two bass towers, the bass was very articulate but not visceral. If I was buying, I would definitely invest in the YG subwoofers.

Oh my! What strong opinions.
My prior speakers were Wilson XLFs with a Thor's Hammer -- I owned them for two years and X2S2 before that. They are great speakers and Wilson is a great company. I agree that Alexx are great speakers. That said: In the same room with the same Boulder 3060 and everything else: IMO the YGXV are plainly better than the XLF/Thor combination -- with all types of music. All my friends, except one, who have heard them agree, to quote one review: "The others were good but these kick ass." |
