Ref our hobby, last time I was in Chile I had to go to a tournament down south in Curicó -lovely place too and a fellow audiphile / audio nutter introduced me to a delightful system based on ATC's, a classic Lenco and really engaging Unison research electronics. That and the red wine just did the trick
Wow Fernando!
Curicó happens to be my second home town!
That's where my Chilean history started... and still continues.
Would like to visit our 'colleague' next time!

How on Earth you are connected to Curicó is beyond me, Bart but surely I can put you in touch with José. Great guy and is quite a hoard... sorry let me rephrase that, hobbyist as we are

Wish we had met when there was an opportunity -too much work I guess. Last time I went to Belgium was ages ago, but if we loan out any players there (we had one briefly at Sint Truidense last year) I'll make sure I'm going too!

Mi casa es tu casa!
I'll tell you the whole story when we meet.

And yes, I'd like to meet José.

Bart,

Please do let me know when you are again in Chile. Hopefully you can meet José and Rodri, and if I'm lucky I can be there too. Need to be in Santiago around 12th of December for a soccer tournament at Universidad Católica.

As Chile is still a relatively young economy, high end is not yet booming over there.
But they're doing their best in presenting a nice and broad selection of good brands.
We decided to first visit the most beautiful system they installed, the Burmester - Raidho room.

Wow, Bart. If Chile's economy can support an audio shop with this kind of equipment I'd say they are doing well.

Panama's economy is at the same level as Chile's (GDP per capita) and I'm not aware of an audio store offering any high-end audio.

Hola Carlos!

I think Chile's economy is more based on production than Panama's.
I believe there is a lot of foreign money that makes Panama thrive.

Let's hope our beautiful hobby can conquer Chile (and Panama of course)!

That would be correct. Panama is much less about production than it is about distribution, offshore banking, casinos and entertainment for the Colombians, Americans, Mexicans and the like.

Been there this past April/May and the "hi end" audio on offer on the local scene in Panama was extremely disappointing. Lots of appliance stores items and little real quality, regretfully.

Since '88, the first time I was in the country, Chile has changed enormously.
It thrives economically, but has succeeded in keeping the latin spirit and hospitality.

From the neighbourhood where my daughter lives (she's doing her specialisation in gynecology now), it's only a 6 mile walk to the shop, and the weather was wonderful for a winter day (sunny, 71°F).

Did anybody notice that 1 building looks like a huge pair of BEOLAB 90s????

Don't worry,....I am beyond professional help [emoji4] !
