Remember that whole scandal from 2010 or 2011 when Lexicon took an entire Oppo BD-105 or something similar, fit it inside their own "shell" and charged 5X as much as Oppo?
Vaguely but YES! Not an unusual practice in high end audio.

Here's the link from Stereophile in 2010 (IIRC, this does not violate any forum rules):

I find it incredibly ironic that a high-end AV company like Lexicon would pull sh*t like that but a company actually named Schiit would NEVER pull something like that.

McIntosh used to be a rebadged Denon when it came to video players. There was no sense for them to build one from the ground up. At least McIntosh used to beef them up a bit. Lexicon simply ripped their customers off.

I’m loving my OPPO Roon Tidal trial. The sound quality is really quite good. Even thought I’m not able to fully utilize hardware decoding of MQA, software MQA (24bit 48khz) sounds really good. Impressive considering I’m streaming everything via wifi.

Glad to hear you are also enjoying Oppo and Roon! Tell you the truth, I have an MQA DAC that I can drive my lower impedance headphones with and I don't miss MQA so far. With Roon everything sounds better for some reason.

Has anyone managed to send DSD 64 directly to the OPPO? I have a VanityHD card so I'm able to send DSD 64 stream out via spdif to my DAC. However, I'm unable to do this via Roon. All my DSD files are converted to PCM.

Not from Roon. No DSD. No Multichannel.
