In South Australia they probably do. That's not McIntosh's fault -- now is it??

Just like a distant relative in Denmark -- bought a BMW 325i -(non M3) - $105K USD equivalent.

Best sir,

Bob

I'm not saying it is Mc's fault. Just that it is the Australian tax. The M3 is normally 150k.

Let's not forget Allen Perkins is apparently involved with these new Mo-Fi tables. At least the arm has fully adjustable VTA.... I'm not a fan of the location of the on/off switch, but I would like to hear one. Allen knows his stuff.

Careful here... Those tables are actually designed by Allen Perkins of Spiral Groove. These are not just some cheap table that Mofi put their logo on. Allen has proven he can build world class tables at the $30K price point, now he is trying to bring more tables to the masses incorporating his design principles into tables at a fraction of the cost. I for one am excited to see if he is able to pull it off.

briweed.......I understand your point but my comments hold water. MoFi is marketing turntables, not manufacturing them. That was my main point. Second, and to use an analogy here, Allen Perkins may well be a respected designer of $30k turntables, and the goal to incorporate some of his design principles into entry level turntables stamped with MoFi's logo is a noble endeavor, but no one can produce a Ford GT for the price of a Fiesta, even employing the same designers.

The new MoFi Studio Deck and Ultra Deck turntables should be a hit among the crowd that wishes to dip their toes into vinyl playback without needing to take in a second room mate to help pay for the new gear. As entry level goes, these turntables and cartridge combinations don't look bad.

Good point Dan, but remember, one does not need to drive a Ford GT to experience the love of the open road !

Coming from a Fiesta ST owner all I can say was how much I enjoyed driving it. They put the money where it was most needed and not on bling.

The UltraDeck sounds really really good.

Not sure about the pricing elsewhere in the world but down under, it comes in just over A$3000 with an UltraTracker cart. I'd take it over the AVID Ingenium with a Rega arm at $2500 (cart extra).
