2018 is about done. What did you do for Audio?

2018 was the biggest audio upgrade year I've had in the last 20 years (even more so if you include the very end of 2017 where I upgraded my speakers to the McIntosh XRT29s and added the JL Audio CR-1 crossover to my system).

In 2018 I purchased the following:

A few cable upgrades (HDMI, USB, power etc)

Overall a very big upgrade year - the new ModWright gear (the LS300 preamp in particular) has been transformational, and the improvements in DAC and sources have also made a huge difference in sound. This upcoming year will be a few smaller changes in accessories, but overall it's time to settle in and enjoy the music for a while now!

2018 was the year I jumped back into high end audio. In December, I put together an entire system (less front end components):

This past year I purchased a Dennis Had Inspire 45 based SET amplifier and then found some beautiful Klipsch Chorus II speakers, purchased Crites crossovers and Ti tweeter diaphragms and have been having sonic fun ever since. I moved my system around a bit and finally settled in on my current layout and setup.

In 2018 I bought a pair of Elac Adante AF-61 (replace my ProAc D18) in gloss white and a Simaudio Evolution 600i v2 (replace my 13 years old Bryston BP25 + 2B SST). I am waiting for the new Rega Planar 8 with the Apheta2. Must arrive next week.
I think it’s my last system.
