So far so good. I've completed approx 200 cycles. No issues. On my 2nd fluid change.

I find with new records it can take one long cycle (5 presses) to get all the mold off. For some vinyl, I run two of these cycles. Anything pre-owned gets a big wash too.

It's a great hands off solution. Very gentle & sympathetic cleaning.

Spoke too soon. Audio Desk vinyl cleaner failed this evening. Rollers no longer retract. I would guess an internal mechanical failure. Probably a spring or something. Visually, the workings look OK. Not happy.

I'll be pissed if I have to wait another 6 weeks for a replacement unit.

What a drag. I've had mine for a few months and have cleaned well over 500 LP's with great results. Here's to a speedy recovery for your ADS RCM.

Darn. I hope you get a replacement soon.
I hope it's just an isolated problem but...

I have done maybe 100 albums on mine...

It is really really convenient.

Audio Desk have apologised for the malfunction & have offered to immediately express ship a replacement unit with extra consumables (fluid, rollers) as a consequence of the inconvenience.

I hope it's an isolated incident. They are a very intelligent design & it is such a convenient hands off cleaning system that does a wonderful job. It was also refreshing to get an immediate response from the manufacturer with a no fuss resolution.

Sorry to hear about your problems. I missed this thread so just to update y'all, my dealer replaced the unit with a new one which 'felt' like it was built better. Anyway I sold it new to someone as I tend to shy away from items that have caused me problems before.

Looks as though the reliability of the unit is variable but it did work very nicely when it did work.

I now use a Clearaudio double matrix but guess what..... the suction was too strong and the record couldn't spin whilst the vacuum was on. This started about 6 months after I bought it. I had to change the spring in the arm (to be precise I had to cut down a new spring until it worked. There is an extremely fine line between too much and too little suction) and now it works well but to be honest I was none too impressed at having to do it at all.

I tried out a Loricraft at the National Audio Show in Milton Keynes in the UK in September and it worked like a gem and was silent! I am now sorely tempted to sell my Clearaudio and buy a loricraft.....

howie
