And see if it will take additional memory.

I tried putting 2-2gb RAM in my Control 10, it did not work. The Control 10 has 2-1gb RAM in it stock, this seems to be maxed out already.

Usually, single rank memory is needed for NASes and appliances to not screw up things.

Finally took the drive out of my C15 and it is a standard notebook drive. I connected it to Mac and it was identified as having 2 NTFS volumes. First one is 8GB (application/firmware) and the second (data) took up the remainder of the drive. I won't have a chance to replicate it until early next week.
I'll be using Disk Utility (Mac only) to copy it to a larger drive for the first test. The second test will be resizing the second partition to the drive's maximum using Partition Magic (PC only). If either fail I will revert to the UNiX command line disk tools. First test is all but a lock and will give a backup drive with the Sooloos software on it so I'm covered in the event of a drive failure. Also, I took a quick look around the 2nd partition and found the artwork folder. I'll be testing modifying the artwork directly by replacing it with the drive connected to my Mac. |

The drive is an Hitachi Travelstar Model 5K500.B (part #HTS545050b9A300, Data Sheet).

A quick glance at the HGST website lead me to the Travelstar 5K1000 (Data Sheet), which is available in capacities up to 1.5TB. The highlights are:
-Low power consumption -Enhanced availability (EA) models for applications needing around-the-clock access in lower-transaction environments -Quiet Acoustics – Richer audio-listening for music, movies and games This looks like a good starting point. |

I'm thinking an SSD is the way to go for replacement
How big is the Hitachi HD? I think I remember it being a 60GB when I looked at it many years ago... |
