Montille CV391
I thought everyone would enjoy seeing the new Montille CV391.
The CV391 is a British beam tetrode developed in the mid 50's or so. Push/Pull topology provides approx 20wpc. -M |

Matt can you speak about how this iteration compares with previous versions?

They are at two different price points, the Montille 6v6 being the stepping stone into the Shindo amp lineup. Previous model was the popular EL84 Montille. CV391 model punches through the midrange with a bit more of a defined character - A bit more grip and presence - a bit more extension. If you own a 6v6 model - congrats - its great. Moving up in preamps would make more sense, than moving up one model to a cv391. Moving up to a Cortese, for sake of comparison, would be a further contrast to what you currently enjoy. -M |

Not to side track (although i am), but the Line Magnetic amp that looks like an old WE stack is just the cat's meow. Looks like old tennis ball tubes in the bottom as well. Perhaps a separate thread on that?
I dig the old WE stuff, and am interested in the re-creations, including the GIP drivers/horns. But, as far as the Line Magnetic speakers are concerned, they look like conventional, not horn loaded woofers. If Matt or Johanthan can chime in, since it looks like they handle that gear, and if the mods want to start (or have me start) as separate thread, happy to see that happen. Back to your regularly scheduled program. |
