14AWG powercord and xx Watts amp?
Hi, i want to buy bulk cable for powercord, for krell evolution 300W (600 at 4 ohms)
this cable can work ? Furutech FP-314Ag 37 strands of silver-plated α Alpha μ-OFC Conductor • 0.25mm diameter × 2 Cores (≒14 AWG) / (1.82 sq.mm) |

Mati-
I have no direct experience with Furutech products but they do have a following. I have been making power cords using DH Labs bulk cable. Power Plus on sources (pre-amp, tuner, CD) and Red Wave on the amps. The Red Wave works well on power amps, 10 gauge silver plated copper and dual shields. Because it is so heavy, using the Wattgate EVO series of plugs makes for easier assembly.

I would suggest 12awg minimum for an amp of this power rating, possibly 10awg.

Despite not being a "double e" major or licenced electrician I feel most of the benefit from upgraded power cords comes from the heavier cable. Electricity travels on the outside of the wire and silver coating also helps. To what degree is another question. That said, again I do silver on my amps and copper on the sources. Also consider upgrading the wall plugs. The PS Audio ones Ivan offers certainly have better grip than run of the mill contractor supply and do not break the bank in audiophile terms!

The frequency of your AC line is 60hz. At this low frequency wire will generally conduct to its core (center). Skin effect (surface conduction) occurs and increases at much higher frequencies.

Doing some more reading today (and going a bit off topic), skin effect appears relatively low throughout the entire audible range. So am I correct to assume skin effect does not necessarily affect the sound from IC's and speaker cables?

The entire audio spectrum, commonly defined as 20hz to 20khz, will be be passed by interconnects and speaker cables simultaneously. There will be various levels of skin effect in a cable depending on the frequency. The most occurring above 8 to10khz. Cables are wound (geometry) to minimize skin effect.
Your power cord is designed to pass 120v at 60hz.
