Thanks salmtpa! The ML Summit X is just a tad above that. It is very difficult to listen to anything where I live. Have to drive at least 2 hours to D.C. metro to find anything of quality There is only one dealer there that carries ML and they are very unfriendly to anyone who walks in the door. There is a Maggie dealer about 2.5 hours I may go visit.

I don't think my present room 11.6 X23 can support either the CLX or the 20.1. I think I could find the space for a pair of JL Fathom 110 or 112's to round out the bottom.

Always something to think about!

I think what scares me about these is Sanders is a small 2 or 3 person operation from what I've read. Nothing wrong with the little guy trying to make his mark but I'm concerned about the long term viability of the company should something happen to Mr. Sanders.

There is something important to me that a company be around for awhile, like a certain company we buy a lot of gear from!

Seriously, I would not put the CLX in a 12' wide room. Even when we moved them to the 16' room in the 24 x 16 foot room here, a lot of the expansiveness was lost.....

Everytime I've heard the CLX in a small room I've been pretty dissapointed. I'm even thinking of doing a little remodeling here so I can have a 20 x 24 room and move my couch back three more feet!

Walk-ins are never really a good idea. When you get ready to plunk down a huge amount of money for a component or speakers it's best to allow the dealer to provide a good set-up for your audition. It benefits you, and him, to demo the item under optimal circumstances. I know this is a rabbit hole we can jump into pretty deeply, but audition by drive-by just isn't a good idea in my mind. I am extremely lucky in that one of my dealers listening rooms is the same size within two inches of my own room. Whenever I am serious about listening I have him set up in that room for me. Problem is, when I have him do that he then knows I am serious!

You MAY be able to get 3.6Rs to work in that room, but my gut tells me it's too narrow for the 20.1s. Even if you did a long wall set up I think the room would still be too shallow.

I don't want to turn this into dealer bashing thread but these guys suck! They are located on the NW side of D.C. and cater to Congresspeople and lobbyists. If you don't walk in with a Secret Service escort or bodyguards, you're followed around as if you were going to attempt to rip them off and have treated us with contempt the entire we were there which lasted for about 15 minutes until I got fed up with their attitude. 25K from me or somebody else should not make a difference but there it does.

You might even want to consider a pair of 1.6's with a pair of Fathom 110's.. On that short wall, you might be amazed at what you get!

I have had M/L SL3's in the past and prefer the sound of Magnapans. (More Robust to me) I have had SMGa, MG1.4, MG1.6, and currently updated MGIIIa's. I was planing on MG3.6's, but have decided to check into other avenues as well before I upgrade. The MGIIIa's were meant to be a carryover until the MG3.6, but since active bi-amping them they have filled the current need so far.
Regards,
Jim

I've yet to experience the black pizza on a set of panels! I've gone back and forth a hundred times over the past couple years. Or for that matter, hearing a well set up Maggie. Perhaps we can trade notes? I like the ML because most tweeters irrate my ears to the point of pain with some music. I came thisclose to obtaining a pair of Carver Amazing Platinums but things did not pan out.
