PPP Review

This review is on the addition of “11” PS Audio PPP’s in my main Theater System. Each PPP is feeding a MC1.2KW and or MC2KW amplifier. Each circuit is dedicated and first goes through a RGPC 1200 then to the PPP then to the amp. There is an additional RGPC 1200 in parallel with each amp. This configuration is only on my front sound stage; left, center & right. 100% of all power cables are Wireworld Silver Electra 5.2’s

To recap a bit, I have recently added a PPP to all my front end devices, totaling 24 components. The improvement was quite notable and appears elsewhere in the PS Audio forum.
On to the good stuff, due to the complexity of this installation; it is impossible to perform A/B tests. I believe each and every one of us is intimately familiar with our own systems, especially with our favorite artists & tracks. I am no different, and have grown extremely familiar with every nuance of sound my system produces.

I will say that prior to this upgrade, I was completely overwhelmed & satisfied with every aspect of my musical reproduction. This started as an experiment since our good friend “hkval” Howard ran his two MC1.2KW’s through his two PPP’s with outstanding results.

Every PPP was allowed to burn in for at least 48 hours, each unit was then tweaked to put out exactly 120 volts.

All music reviewed is 2-channel through the MCD/MDA/C1000T.

This review is being written while listening, for the utmost accurate description.

Musical Delivery

My system has always been dead silent with absolutely fearful dynamics. The adding of these PPP’s has increased the overall soundstage in many respects. Musicical instruments and vocals are now in total focus with pinpoint accuracy. The imaging is wider and much deeper than ever before, as amazing as that may sound; it is true. Articulation of the most subtle notes are now more clearly defined. Playing Acoustic Alchemy - Georgia Peach at 85db the strings are absolutely stunning, I can hear fingers slide on the strings. The entire architecture of the sound has been transformed to a much higher plain. Bass, (which was always incredible) is now as delicate as it is devastating.

The Rippington’s - Aruba track is an awesome track as it features as wide an array of instruments as any I have heard. The characteristic flow of music is now more involving & intoxicating; making it virtually impossible to just play a minute of a track & move on. It begs to heard from beginning to end.

Big Phat Band’s - Act Your Age is another perfect example of how addictive the PPP’s affect the overall sound. This track absolutely makes you raise the volume, I brought it up to 100db and I can tell you in all sincerity “this is as real as it gets” the horns are within touching distance. The entire jazz ensemble is surrounding you in musical bliss. This track has never sounded better, just stunning!

For my last demo I chose Emerson Lake & Palmer - Tank at 90db, the Moog synthesizer simply boggles the mind, every key stroke so clearly defined against Carl Palmers drums. For the drum solo I brought it up to 100db the entire solo has its own sound stage not simply drums being played. Average power output on my MC1.2KW’s at this level was less than 12 watts each. Once again this track draws you deeper into the music than ever.

Summary

I have come to the following conclusions; I will never say I am done adding or tweaking my systems. I will most certainly always center mine and any other systems I build around the amazing PPP. It has unquestionable proven beyond doubt, Mac amps & AC regeneration have incredible synergy.

Your review was definitely worth waiting for. My experiment which proved, in my system, that having just the front end plugged into the PPP's was only 50% of the potential and it was clearly apparent that when I also ran the 1.2KW's through the 2 X PPP's, the total improvement was dramatic. Ivan, Dan and Serge have brilliantly and technically described what I have been appreciating. The music level that I currently have in my home can best be described from the movie Young Frankenstein "It's Alive, It's Alive". Ivan has a few PPP's coming in this weekend.

Actually, Howard, he has two less coming since they are being drop-shipped to me for my MC1.2KW's!
