Jerome, you sould try a better USB/SPDIF converter, before investing in expensive USB and digital cables. In my experience, converters make by far the biggest difference. I have tried the MDA-1000 in my system just a few weeks ago, and it is still a great soundng DAC (if a bit on the warm side) but it needs a great transport to really shine.
Check out my USB/SPDIF converter vs Scarlatti and MCD-1000 transports thread. |

Thank you. Of course I read your review. But you used the standard V Link. Not the late V Link 192. Ifyou look at pics of the boards you will see that the 192 is very different. Of course, I have no trouble thinking that the BAD Alpha is better : at this price, it is logical. But you know digital for me is just to "discover" new music or to listen to recordings that I cannot find in vinyl. My TT set up is still clearly better and I doubt that any other dac or USB converter will change that : the gap is too big. Yes I changed my mind after listening to a few vinyls. Yes, I listened to about 10 recordings yesterday in digital and a few vinyls and there is still no match in terms of sound quality and pleasure. The realism and life are on the vinyl side clearly for my ears, and I don't even speak of the incredible dynamic superiority. If I could try at home the little Playback Designs dac that impressed me so much at the Paris Show, I would be very interested. Instead of buying the BAD, I could sell the MDA and add the 2k euros value of the BDA to buy the Playback. No need for USB converter this way. A shorter signal should be better. Love my 3 meter Platinum Starlight! Getting analogue-like sound quality from digital sources with this cable feeding my DAC!
