I will never return to CD , this marvelous Network player is the turning point for me. I especially like the fact that it sounds so good with local usb storage devices.

I believe Pioneer has created the audiopile format of the future with this player and just wish more of the big name companies would design integrated network players.

Have you considered the Lumin S1?
Douglas, I still love my physical media.
But I intend to stream in the near future.
The Pioneer might be an option.
I'm sure they will add Qobuz/Tidal facilities soon.

A quick question if you do not mind.

As I already have a good DAC, would I be better off with a Moon Mind for my streaming needs?

Hi Humbuster,

I am sure you will get excellent results from the Moon Mind and a good DAC. Their control app is a major step up from the Pioneers’ rather poor Control App. You cannot go wrong with that Combo

I can however unequivocally recommend the Pioneer. It is the best digital source I have ever owned, besting my EAR Acute and Shanling SACD players I had before. It play’s all format from NAS or local storage and all of from one unit. It has digital inputs and outputs to add further flexibility.

Since you already have a good DAC it is probably better to get the Moon, or Perhaps a Bryston digital player

Regards,
Douglas

Or use jRiver MC through an iPad (for remote control functionality) and some "computer" hooked up to your DAC through the USB port in case you build a NAS, or many, many other options as well.

Default Tidal

The best way that i found on how to use Tidal service with Pioneer n50, n70 wirelessly is with an ipad and airplay. I can also stream Tidal from an android tablet or phone but only with the help of BubbleUPNP but it is not very ergonomic. I am still waiting for good news from Pioneer.

Thanks Robert_S, Interesting. I have given up on Pioneer. Their player is unbelievable value for money in respect of sound quality, but they do not care much for anything else.

I am looking towards the Lumin S1 as my next digital source. It seems to tick all the boxes in terms of my preferences.

Thank you Masterlu! I think that having acces to an outstanding content and interface as Tidal offers i can pretty much forget about my NAS music collection and Pioneer's crappy interface. This is just my opinion. Regarding the n70 player combined with the right interconnect cable it is just as transparent and detailed as my Accuphase DAC-40. Terrific for the money you pay for it.

I have to agree with you Robert about Tidal music contents. And now Oppo 103, 103D, 105 and 105D can stream Tidal now....aleast in USA. I have to say i like the sound quality of Tidal. The Media control apps for Android from Oppo is pretty darn good!! I am going to return my Sony HAP-Z1ES player now...

Default N-70

Sadly I've just discovered that the airplay quality does not even come close to dlna streaming. Whenever i was listening using the ipad i was feeling that something was missing. It just sound flat with a narrower soundstage.
