Gday Omodo
Hi Omodo,
Am just out on the lake near Newcastle (just north of Sydney). I spoke with David Le who imports Shindo in Australia and it seems that as of yet there aren't too many of us here in Oz. Strikes me as odd since it is such fantastic gear that I'd have thought there'd be many more of us. The need for current drive for the Magnepan 3.7s led me to Sanders Magtech... an amp that even gets the nod from Harry Pearson. But Bill McLean (who imports the Maggies and Sanders in Australia) strongly suggested I look at a tube pre to set up the soundstage and timbre for the grain free neutral Magtech. I had heard rumours of the mystical, mythical but musical Shindo and so I googled the distributor in Melbourne (and took the punt) figuring that since they hold their value so well it was worth a shot. Don't really ever have to twist my arm to make me think valve... turns out as one of the best guesses I have ever made!!! Putting aside obvious impedance differences and a cultural mismatch... she all valve, he so solid state...I was aware that it was all a touch scary, the prospect of a sight unseen pre-arranged marriage, the exotic sensuous bride coming out from Japan veiled in emerald green ready to hook up with that dark, handsome muscular lad from the US... anyway... to cut to the chase they fell in love in both body and soul and so now make much beautiful music together.. I can't easily convey how good a marriage it is quite the way Alberto does... let's just say that they share a sweet but transparent unity... they are cut from two sides of the same sonic cloth... together both delicious and organic, ethereal and irresistible, in the heart and the hips... the rest I will leave for another day... PS they sometimes make me cry also, that's if I'm not just happy dancing around the room like some crazy slave to the rhythm (thanks for the line Grace Jones)... Love to know about your Shindo also ... where are you Omodo? and still loving the Shindo from Australia Graham audio.t servant Main Music:Meridian and Onkyo transports>Wireworld silver starlight>Pure Music>Mac Air with 256GB SSD>Wireworld silver eclipse 6, Straightwire and Kimber ICs>Calyx DAC>Shindo Aurieges L>Sanders Magtech>Wireworld Silver Eclipse 6 SCs>Magnepan 3.7 (and more Wireworld on its way) Head Music: Audeze LCD2 and AKG 702>Violectric V200 headphone amp AV:Oppo 95 (coming soon)>Straightwire ICs>Peachtree Nova>Quicksilver GE 8417 monos>biwired Kimber 8tc>Proac Response 2 Last edited by audiot servant; 07-04-2011 at 09:06 AM. |

Hi 1KW,
If I'm a bit overexcited it's cause I just checked the tracking on a small bundle of Wireworld silver eclipse IC's on the way from Ivan and they just cleared customs in Australia... now that is worth excitement! ta Graham audio.t servant Main Music:Meridian and Onkyo transports>Wireworld silver starlight>Pure Music>Mac Air with 256GB SSD>Wireworld silver eclipse 6, Straightwire and Kimber ICs>Calyx DAC>Shindo Aurieges L>Sanders Magtech>Wireworld Silver Eclipse 6 SCs>Magnepan 3.7 (and more Wireworld on its way) Head Music: Audeze LCD2 and AKG 702>Violectric V200 headphone amp AV:Oppo 95 (coming soon)>Straightwire ICs>Peachtree Nova>Quicksilver GE 8417 monos>biwired Kimber 8tc>Proac Response 2 |

Graham.......I enjoyed the "in the heart and the hips..." phrase. Descriptive, impactful, and clever.

I'm in Brisbane.. I started with a Montille EL84, have since added a Masseto, and a new power amp will be next Great to hear you're loving the green If only I discovered Shindo earlier - I would of saved a lot of money/effort/time |

Just a bit green with Shindo pre-ness envy lol
Gday Omodo,
Great to hear you are indeed very well endowed in the Shindo department... would have inserted banana guy but fear I might be going too far with the banana gag. oh well, not much self control here hehe... back on topic... so which way with new Shindo amp are you thinkin?... how do you choose if you can't audition (or can you) and what a happy dilemma. With the pre (from my limited understanding) it's pretty much all the same essential signature but just getting better as you go up the line. With the amps, I have heard that they are all distinctly individual and it is just a case of which one that suits your taste/budget. I almost picked up a Shindo Masseto myself on a'gon in australia not long ago (is that your unit?) but since it was a first ever Shindo I played it safe and went with Aurieges L (largely based on research especially all the enthusiasm for the Shindo preamps on AA) and put the rest into new cables. Have learnt to put a lot of faith when there are plenty of guys on this site saying the same thing... it's great, your pre must just be amazing... So time to fess up... how does it go... sure many on this thread are really keen to hear your impressions... had you a chance to compare to Aurieges or Monbrison before going for the Masseto... gotta love the individual spirit of this stuff... I bet you the Masseto is just a symphony fantastic... cheers Graham Main Music:Meridian and Onkyo transports>Wireworld silver starlight usb>Pure Music>Mac Air with 256GB SSD>Wireworld silver eclipse 6, Straightwire and Kimber ICs>Calyx DAC>Shindo Aurieges L>Sanders Magtech>Wireworld Silver Eclipse 6 SCs>Magnepan 3.7 Head Music: Audeze LCD2 and AKG 702>Violectric V200 headphone amp AV: Oppo 95 (coming soon)>Straightwire ICs>Peachtree Nova>Quicksilver GE 8417 monos>biwired Kimber 8tc>Proac Response 2 Last edited by audiot servant; 07-13-2011 at 05:25 AM.
