Thank you very much for the link. I had an XA30.5 before I sold it to get my Spectrons. Big mistake. It was fun reading the review and thinking back to my XA30.5. I did not realize how satisfying it was until after I got rid of it. I had planned on moving up the line but did not want a 150 lb. behemoth to carry and move, let alone two for a stereo pair. Funny, considering McIntosh's weigh a ton . I wasn't smart enough at the time to return the Spectrons in the 30 day trial. They (the Spectrons) impress, but I think long term, lose out to other amps. Great read.

Does anyone know how much power the xa60.6 has in AB? I know the xa30.5 can do over 130w (Stereophile) and measurements for the xa100.5 clipped at around 175.
What can the xa60.5 do? |

I think that the xa60.5 it is not meat and not fish.....
the 100.5 is an amazing ampli: you can drive a B&W802di or a Wilson Sophia.... (and are more at 175watt in AB..) the x250.5 is sure another world: powerfull but the sound difference between the 250 and the xa100 is the sophistication of sound....... the xa60.5 ar good for a little room (30m2) and a little monitor speaker easy to drive....of course you can use it in a bigger room but the speakers will weep when they play for the lack of power and the sound will be "kneaded" for not enough powerfull... or the 100.5 or stay with the 250.5 (or if you will monoblock a couple of x260.5 that they give you the same at the x250.5) style |

Resolution is much better, treble is sweeter and bass dynamics are more powerful with greater control and articulation. They are also more expensive.

yes, are monoblock! but the power in class A in more in the 250.5. otherside in the 260.5 have a good point of the XA parts inside: this give a more sounstage but very little imho. My dealer have a pair of 60.5 Demo (not more at 50hr. sound..) = new warranty , all 5k$ or the 260.5 for my 250.5 and 3k. $.... What do you think from the XA60.5 vs. the 100.5? |
