I'm gonna throw one out there that I guess most people in the US won't see often. Quest For Sound carries the JAS line of speakers and I found them really incredible.

The small, but not smallest of the line, are the Orior. I heard them driven with a Mobile Fidelity Pre, Granit Audio Mono Blocks, and using Steve Monte's own Sound Quest CD Player with the custom Granite Audio Tube Mods.

I had my own compilation disk so I was fully aware of the music and what it sounded like at home.

I could live with these speakers and their matching adjustable stands and they are on my Downsizing Short List already.

Cheers!

Brian

Love my B&O beolab 3, although they are now pulling surround duty in my HT.

I've had both of these Sonus Faber speakers also and agree 100% with Dan.

Still have the Guarneri Mementos and still love-em!

Without a doubt my Marten Coltrane Alto's. Essentially a Coltrane, with one less bass driver it is still the best sounding 'small' speaker i've ever heard. It is a large, full range stand mount in reality. I will miss these great speakers when they're sold ..

I've had a number of really nice monitors, aka stand mounted bookshelves, whatever you want to call them..... My long time favorite, the PSB M2 Monitor has been replaced by a pair or Revel M106. These speakers are really special... I'm driving them with a Conrad Johnson Classic 2SE preamp and McCormack DNA 125 amp. I'm running them full range with a REL R305 to augment the low end. The synergy between these components is so good I'm afraid to make any changes. I've been up until 2 and 3am the last couple of nights....damn these sound good !

Jerry, I agree with you about the Paradigm Signature S1 being an outstanding compact speaker. I own a S1 v.3 pair mounted on Paradigm stands that I highly enjoy with tube equipment.

The S1 is an all-a-rounder speaker, successfully handling a wide variety of styles from classical, folk, jazz and rock.

These ultra compact speakers have a sound truely much bigger than you would image from their small size.

The S1 has superb sounding beryllium tweeters and use neodymium magnets on both drivers, with the whole die-cast aluminum cabinet acting as a heat sink for the magnets.

They sound highly accurate, transparent and clear, image great and will play very loud without breaking up or becoming non-linear--90 dB efficiency and amazing articulate bass for their size (-3 dB at 65 Hz).

Roger

Two...Kef LS50's and Dynaudio's Focus 110A which I recently purchased last week at a very good price. Last month they were selling for $2500.00 a pair and I was surprised to see them being sold for $1400.00.

The most impressive small loudspeakers I've auditioned or owned are:

1. Raidho D-1
2. Magico Q1
3. Raidho C-1.0

Small speakers used to be considered a massive compromise. Not so today, especially if the plan is to use them in a small listening environment
