Default Thoughts on a pair of MC75 and D1100 ?

I have always liked pairing tube pre amp with solid state amps. or vice Versa. I am considering bringing my D1100 and Sonus faber Guarneri Mementos to Florida. The question is will the 75 watts be enough to give a nice full sound even at low or moderate sound levels? I will not be playing the music very loud so I am most concerned about low level bass ?

Had an MA2275, then an MC275MkV, then a pair of them as mono-bloc followed by a pair of the new MC75s. They MC75s were definitely the best to my ears. Cannot comment on your needs as I am not familiar with your speakers. The MC75s were excellent with both Joseph Audio and Krell speakers.

David.......When I owned the SF Guarneri Memento speakers I drove them with a single MC275 (75wpc) to great satisfaction. I also drove them with a pair of MC275's (150wpc) in mono, a MC352 (see photo), and a MC452 (see photo). It is no secret that the Guarneri Memento's enjoy a bit of power, but the single MC275 produced an excellent performance with these speakers, while capable of delivering substantial volume. I am comfortable saying that I believe you will be more than satisfied with the performance of a pair of MC75 amplifier driving the GM's in your condo. I suspect you will rarely if ever use more than 30 watts peak. The Guarneri Memento's and the McIntosh MC75 tube power amps will make a wonderful system you will be more than pleased with owning.

Definitely & no problem David. A very synergistic pairing IMO.

Best Sir,

Bob

I have a pair of the MC 75's and could not be happier. I have used them with a variety of speakers and I can say most certainly and absolutely no problem as answers to your questions!
You will be very happy indeed with the MC75'S!!

David, I used an MC275 with the SF GM and I believe you heard my system back then if you remember? No problem at all, it was a good pairing.

David -- is this going in that 'library' sort of room you showed us pictures of awhile back of your Florida home? If so, nice room for them too, IIRC IMHO.

It was this thread --pictures have vanished:
