You might want to check with a dealer for current pricing. I can recommend Matt Rotunda at Pitch Perfect Audio ( pitch perfect fine audio systems ) His web site provides ways to reach him. I should mention that he is in the midst of moving his business from San Francisco to Los Angeles so he may not respond immediately but he is an excellent person to work with.

Great thank you. Yeah, I saw the website/blog and noticed it was listed as Los Angeles now so that confused me. Didn't know he was the same guy as up in the city.

Yes that's him. He is a very nice person and an ideal dealer. Knowledgeable, friendly and available.

Has anyone here ran a Cortese with the Aurieges? It's something I'm interested in for a second system (using the class A Pass integrated for the main solid-state system) and would only consider SET, so the Cortese is probably the only one I could possibly afford. Is the Cortese too good for the Aurieges, or is that the best entry-level Shindo pre-amp & SET pairing?

I had that configuration before the Monbrison and loved it. I would have kept the Auriges-L but I wanted a phono input.

The Cortese is amazing and will make great music with the little Auriges.

Keep us posted.

I had exact same experience as Alberto. I ran Cortese with Aurieges-L with a pair of Altec Valencias. Great great combo. Moved to Masseto for the phono mainly.
Masseto was an upgrade but not as much as the price diff. would indicate.

Also wondering like a previous poster what the Leben 600 sounds like with a Shindo pre -- does it bring the magic, or is it a Frankenstein? Any experiences?

Also, does anyone know the tube complements in the current Aurieges MM and Monbrison?

Cheers,
Pingvin

Depends what one is listening for. The difference between these two preamps is rather large. The Aurieges is already capable of making music the way no other brand can, in the right and well set up system. The Aurieges is definitely an overachiever. The Masseto and all the other Shindo preamps do offer more and in some cases much more. And in some cases an upper model preamp can be too much for the system and/or room and actually sound worse. System and room matching as well as set up is key.

A system with an Aurieges can outperform one with a Petrus if the associated equipment is not correctly matched or set up. If the differences are minimal to any listener, its not the difference between the preamps that is minimal.
