Default XLR and RCA inputs on MC501's

Greetings,

Is it wise to have both the RCA and XLR inputs on my MC501's connected to 2 seperate preamps at the same time.

C220 to MC501 (XLR) to Spkr
MX135 to MC501 (RCA) to Spkr

Both Preamps would never be powered on at the same time, just looking for a convenient way to listen to either Tubes or SS without changing the connections from the C220 to the MX135 each time.

I've also noticed that a signal is output from the MC501's rca or xlr regardless of the position of the rca/xlr mode switch on the MC501, meaning connect a RCA cable with the unit switched to XLR and a signal will still be sent via the RCA connection.

Thanks for the knowledge in advance.

Hi
It is input on the MC501 XLR and RCA, not output. You still have to switch from either XLR or RCA mode.
Thanks

You will find the sound to be the best with one or the other connected. So no, I would not advise that.

thanks,
