Burmester 151 musicsenter
Hello,
Does anyone have experience with 151, either mk1 and mk2, directly used with power amplifier? I understand it has variable output 151. |

Great. How did you experience the streaming and ripping functionality?
Did you also try it with a preamplifier? I see that you wrote used, have you trade to another Burmester product? A lot of questions, hope its ok to ask |

streaming and ripping works great
I added a 077, different animal, it worked great as a streamer/pre but not in same atmosphere as when used with 077 upgraded to the burm 111 |

Thank you!
What a great journey in the Burmester world. My consideration is to use 151 mk2 with 216 power amplifier. However it is for a long run if it happens. |

Well, this is my first post. I tried introducing myself in the new members thread, but I'm not allowed to post there yet. So hello, and nice to meet anyone/everyone here. I'll do a proper introduction in the new members thread once I'm allowed.
I just set up my Burmester system (911 MK3, 088 pre, 151 MK2, 948 pc with Dynaudio Confidence 50's and dual Sub 6's). I'm relatively new to the hifi world even though I've wanted to get into it far earlier. I do have a question regarding the 151 MK2. It has 5 USB ports, none of which seem to accept my iphone as a source. I'm using apple music and Qobuz. The 151MK2 has built-in streaming capability with Qobuz, but I'd also like to use my phone (since apple music has lossless and a few hi-res lossless) as the source. Does anyone have any experience making this work? I've reached out directly to Burmester a couple weeks ago, but I haven't gotten a response. To be a little more clear, I also have a Lyngdorf TDAI 3400 and if I plug my phone into it via USB, it just plays whatever I'm playing on my phone. I also tried with a couple Gryphon integrated amps, and again it just plays whatever I'm playing on my phone. I believe the USB ports on the 151 MK2 are set up to recognize USB drives that have music files on them, but I'd like option to play directly from my phone. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! |

Thanks Ivan! I have to admit to looking up your various systems and components to try to educate myself more.

Just got a reply from Burmester. Seems like it's not possible to connect an iphone to the 151 MK5 at the moment, unless I connect to an external player. I can use my Lyngdorf TDAI-3400 as a source and USB-in with my phone, but then I think I'm using my Lyngdorf as the dac. If I use toslink or coax, I can send the digital signal from the Lyngdorf to the 151 MK5 which will use the dac in the musiccenter instead of the Lyngdorf. The TDAI-3400 only has a coaxial digital output so I'll give that a try. Feel like I'm talking to myself bc this thread is kind of quiet (understandably so) but hope this helps anyone attempting the same thing.
Just for reference, here's the text of Burmester's email: Thank you for your message. Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to play the music from your iPhone via USB cable on your 151MK2 for licensing reasons. The only current option is to connect an external player via toslink or coaxial to the 151 MK2 and use it as a converter. |
