Best Wax or Polish
Now that Spring is FINALLY here in New England, it's time to clean up and detail the cars.
I was wondering which products you have all used for waxing and/or polishing your cars, trucks or bikes. I have used Zaino and Adams in the past. I wasn't very happy with Adams as their products seemed to work best when working with a high speed orbital buffer - which I don't use. I would be interested in getting some feedback on other products.

I am using Gyeon products, just put a very hard quartz coating on my car.
Great results and easy to apply

Best Wax or Polish
I went the route of never having to wax my ‘17 Grand Sport by having it coated with Ceramic Pro after paint correction. Pricier than waxing your car but in my opinion, worth it if you have a car you want to be as flawless as possible.
I only wash it with neutral soap and dry with a blower. Rarely have to touch it with anything. The CP keeps it cleaner than if waxed and makes the process much easier. There are many new ‘nano’ ceramic coating products out there now. Some cheap, some very expensive. Talk to a local detailer about what they use and why. Then decide. This is after one year and my annual refresh with Ceramic Pro Sport. That is the only maintenance required beyond washing. IMG_0769.jpg

I use Lemon Pledge on everything on my 2004 Vulcan. Windshield, tires, seat, chrome, leather, saddlebags and paint. The bike still looks like the day I rolled it out of the showroom some 14 years ago. I read about this easy method on a bike forum years ago and gave it shot. Shortly there after my fancy German made polishes left never to return. Using one product as opposed to several also makes this monotonous chore a bit more tolerable.

Best Wax or Polish
Chemical Guys out of L.A. makes some nice products, as well as Griots.
I use Griots Clay Bar with Spray Lube or a Wax Spray after washing and dry off as I go - the clay bar, and yes it’s a type of clay pulls out all micro molecules and grime you can feel in the pores of the paint, but not see making the paint smooth as new - if your good the whole process takes 30 minutes to 40 minutes - just make sure the surface is wet with product - it’s a very simple and easy process - I do this 4/5 times a year. I’ll use a Chemical Guys Carnuba gel once a year, and now the spray version as I don’t care as much, and oddly like the smell, not in a “high” type of way. When hosing off before drying, I’ll pull the pistol grip then rinse off with a steady stream, it makes the water roll off for a faster dry just be careful not to have the brass end of the hose touch the paint, duct tape if paranoid. If you can follow what I am saying, you will be amazed with the clay bar. I am very picky and have more six figure in my short life then I care to admit and they always looked good without stripping, buffing with machines and that effort. Now my wife’s car, I call it the rental - she has zero interest kinda like my Hi Fi system. Last edited by For The Love of Music; 04-24-2018 at 09:29 AM. |

Hmmm; I've never tried the wipes having always used the aerosol. Might have to give that a try

ZYMOL CARBON is ideal for dark colored vehicles...been using it for years. PINNACLE SOVERAN is also one of the best when you can get it as is WOLFGANG FUZION POLYMER ESTATE...
MEGUIARs GOLD is another very good paste wax that is widely available Last edited by SCAudiophile; 04-24-2018 at 10:02 AM. |
