Default MQA on the N-05 does not appear to pass high res from Tidal

I just did the update to 10.3l and using the Sound Stream app I selected a MQA album from Tidal (Hotel California) and it says 44.1. What am I doung wrong?

Many MQA albums are 44.1kHz.

The key thing to look for is the "MQA" authentication display. On Tidal, they should be 24-bit as well.

If you don't get MQA authentication, and you don't get 24-bit as well, please try several other MQA albums, e.g. Enya, Dark Sky Island (choose the MQA version).

I just tried the Enya and it also shows 16/44.1, has anyone gotten the N-05 to unfold Tidal MQA to 24bit?

After you up grade would you please let us know if you hear a difference with the MQA tracks.

I've been using Tidal for months; I have listened to MQA and in my opinion it's very difficult to tell if I can hear a difference, I honestly don't think I do.

Now I have to say that Tidal with my Mytek Dac and a PL tube amp is outstanding; but so far MQA doesn't do anything for me in my system.

Keep unraveling pieces to this puzzle, apparently you have to take the analog output from the N-05. Right now I simply use the N-05 as a gateway and sent the digital output to the Grandioso K1. Since the N-05's dac is MQA and not the K1's it's only doing part of the conversion. May have to upgrade to N-03t's.

I had a similar issue with my Mytek dac. I could not get MQA from Tidal until I found an obscure check box in the Tidal app. In my Windows version it is accessed from the menu icon found in the upper left corner in the home page. Go to file, settings, streaming, and then check the Master radio button. I'm guessing that you've already done this, but it is easily overlooked.
As to the question of whether I can tell a difference with MQA enabled the answer is an emphatic yes - it's a much richer and more detailed sound. I've demonstrated the feature to non-audiophile friends and they can hear a difference as well.

found out the K1 cannot perform the second step in MQA even if used with the N-01t. The N-05 and N-01 are full MQA units
