Absolutely. This might catapult it into the top 5 preamps? haha.

TommyC, thanks for sharing the news about the C-3850! Do you have any info about its price? A quick look on a few Japanese sites suggest that C-3850 will be 20-25% more expensive than C-3800. It this actually true?

My brother just added a C-3800 to his system last week.
Dealer offered him great price upon introduction of new C-3850.
So might be a great time for some to grab a great albeit superseded pre with special discount!?

He is very pleased with the sound and ordered a C-37 phono to fill in that empty slot..

Unless the dealer has the 3800 in stock, you won't be able to buy them. All Accuphase products are made to order. I tried to get the 3800 back in February, but Accuphase stopped making them.

Yes, it was N.O.S.

Bvdiman, please congratulate your brother for me. His Accuphase combo looks wonderful! Aren't you jealous on the looks of his combo? I know you have the top FM Acoustics pre, but he has the complete 40 anniversary Accuphase rig.

Also, I am wondering what is your brother doing about the heat put out by the two A-200 amps and the C-3800 pre. My C-3800 get almost as hot as my A-65. I remember this topic has been briefly discussed in the past, but I am unaware if he has done anything about this.

TommyC, please report back when you know something about the price.

Regarding my comment above (for bvdiman) about the heat, be aware that the A-200 and the C-3800 put out a tremendous amount of heat. This can be a nuisance during the summer. For example, this month we had a few nice “hot" days here in NL and I had to disconnect the C-3800 and feed the DP-7200 directly into the A-65 power amp. Luckily for me there aren’t that many hot days here during the summer.

I would consider the new M-6200 over the A-200 if heat might be a problem.

Will do on the price.

I asked the distributor regarding having the A200 and C3800 in a 12' by 13' room. He said it shouldn't be a problem. Btw, I'm in Vancouver, Canada. I guess I'll find out in a few months.
