Hi , newbie here to AA and I was looking for some thoughts of running the A47 straight to my Dnyaudio Special 25 controlled thru my Arye QX 5 Twenty Dac with a great digital Volume control Im told. With the gain control on the A 47 would this be of big help to dial in the correct volume gain along with the QX 5 If not then would the E600 or E 470 be a better SQ. My room is 6 meters X 10 meters with 3.2 meter high ceilings and I listen to mostly jazz at low to medium levels sometime I turn the volume up to 11am on a Music Fidelity M6si integrated. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm definitely a fan of having a high quality pre-amp between my amps and speakers.

While the gain adjustment on the A-47 certainly would help you to dial in a sound level such that you can use the Ayre with the volume turned up as high as possible (thereby minimizing resolution loss) I have to agree with Masterlu in that having a high-quality pre-amp is something to be glad about.

Personally, I use an Accuphase C-2120 with my A-47 ;-) This also gives me much-needed balance and tone controls; features that seem to be in very short supply on most modern high-end units.

Though when I listen to speakers I usually bypass the tone controls; listening to my Stax headphones however I give it a gentle bass boost and even gentler treble decrease.

Given your preference for low to medium level listening a Class A amp like the A-47 should be your ticket; it's possible an E600 could fit too but if you have the budget the C-2120/A-47 combo is a significant step up. And presents a much larger power reserve for your Dynaudio Special 25's which aren't the world's most efficient speakers...

Thank you pabe, I plan on asking the dealer here in HCM Viet Nam to bring the E600, E470 and the A47 over for a listen and we'll decide which one ' hopefully they'll let me do a home audition. Accuphase are very reasonably priced here.

That's the best way Technik, home demo of the equipment you want to buy, my bet it will be the E-600, but maybe I am a bit biased.

I have tried to use the volume control on my Wadia 381i and bypassing the pre-amp part in my E-600. And althoug the result was good, I prefer using the pre-amp in the E-600, wider soundstage and more musical.

I'm not surprised that Accuphase's analog volume control wins over Wadia's digital volume control.

Accuphase AAVA is an outstanding solution and IMHO the best volume control that exists. Period.

Are they not two different classes of sound the p4200 and a47 ?? ..
then there´s now better then the other. its all about what you prefer ... i think

i my self have the E470 and today i bought the A47... im using a pair of tannoy that are 98db so the a47 will be good enough

ill use the e470 as a pre amp till i sell it and later get the c2420

maybe use the e470 to drive the LF ... hmmm
