Could you give us the details on the upgrades, crossover I'm sure, Crites tweeter maybe, Crites woofer possibly? How about a change in the mid driver?

Love my Cornwall III with Accuphase. Had Mcintosh before (MC1.2kw and C48).Mcintosh was/and stil is a superb choice on cornwall, but in my ears, Accuphase nailed it with incredible stage feeling and superb separation and details. Love both brands!
EDIT: Also had Rogue Audio M180 + Perseus Magmum preamp. Sold it when my NOS tubes from Mullard started to wear out. But the system was AWSOME! Last edited by spurv; 05-30-2016 at 04:39 AM. |

Would I be happy with a pair of Heresy III's? I've always been interested in the Klipsch Heritage speakers (maybe because I grew up in that era) but never owned any. Since I now have a 17 watt Dennis Had Inspire tube amp, I'm thinking the Heresy's with that amp might be a good option in my room. I'd keep my main system also and use the Heresy's for a different sound now and then. I've got Magnepan 3.7's with a pair of Vandersteen 2Wq subs, and a Sanders Magtech amp. The Heresy's would fit between the Maggies and be about 7 feet apart center to center. I'd use the subs with them as well. What do folks on this forum think?

Can someone tell me if they play well at low volumes? Or do then need to be turned up?

What do you mean by "playing well"? They are very efficient and can reach high SPL's with very little power, < 2 watts. Horn loaded speakers are much more dynamic than ordinary direct-reflecting speakers. Consequently, you are going to hear more inner-detail at all volume levels, especially from the critical mid-range.

By playing well, I meant to say, will I get all the bass details at lower volumes? I'm listening at around 80db levels or less.
