Seen a version of this in a video many years ago but have never seen this technology used in a table saw I could buy. Does it exist in the market place?

You can buy this saw. They aren't cheap. These are professional quality tools. The least expensive model is $2300. I did a build on their website, added some accessories and the total came to over $4500. Just google sawstop.

What is interesting is that this could licensed to other manufacturers for use in drills, saws and other cutting instruments, but from what I have heard in the past, other companies aren't interested because of litigation potential. The problem being, if a company knows the technology is a tremendous safety factor and uses it in some (high end) but not all their (entry level) tools, they could be liable for not using available safety technology in all their products.
