Default Cleaning Brushes and Solutions

What record and stylus brushes and solutions are you using for an "on the platter" cleanup?
Acoustech? Mobile Fidelity? Disc doctor? Discwasher? Clearaudio? etc. etc.

I know where you can pick up one of these for $65 . Attach a small vacuum and you have something to use with the spin clean.

Ha! There are guys that I've seen on AK and SH forums actually do that! Or make a vacuuming nozzle for vacuuming after hand washing.

When need to scrub have found the MoFi brushes to work well. Still have a quart of the Disc Doc's magic elixir, but do not know if it will work in my new Spin-Clean. Guess I'll find out soon enough. My opinion is that any of the commercial cleaning agents work well enough.

I am still using my Diskwasher brush that I have had since college and it still does a nice job getting up dust and lint.

It would clean one record, but it will not cause the released dirt to precipitate and fall to the bottom of the Spin-Clean, and therefore will contaminate the next record you put into the solution. The Spin-Clean solution is specifically designed to avoid contamination this way.

Thanks. That is what I suspected and why I ordered the kit with the large bottle of the Spin-Clean fluid.

Spin Clean, and a Audio Quest Carbon Fiber brush. I also purchased some cleaning fluids from Jeff at A/V solutions that work real well for hand cleaning the used records I buy before running them through the Spin Clean.

I even tried that Groove Glide spray, but ended up not buying it again and keeping the cleaning pads that came with it. They work pretty good.

David,
You have a real nice analog setup now, it deserves a new cleaning brush.

If you mean immediately prior to play, before Stylus touches down upon record, no heavy cleaning should really be done at this point. That should be done beforehand with an RCM.

For at the Table, one should only have to rely on a good Carbon Fiber Brush, or maybe something like the small LAST Brushes dampened with Pure Water as a dusting tool prior to play.

As for Stylus Cleaning, only a few simple tools are needed, a good Stylus Brush, a small Cube of white Mr Clean Magic Eraser, used dry, and just cue the Stylus a couple of times into a small cube prior to each LP Side, a final back to front gentle brushing with the Stylus Brush, and you're done, and a decent Jeweler's Loupe to inspect the Stylus.
