The Gotham cabinet is a thing of beauty. And at 360 lbs, it means business.

How big is your room? Get 3 or 4 F113. You can get them used for about $2k each (v1, but when you have more than one there is not much difference), hire the SoundDoctor to help you set them up, and you will be in sound heaven and still have money in your pocket.

Think of it as the price to drive the "Ferrari" of subwoofers.

It all depends if you are looking for a beautiful piece of furniture or value vs. performance. As a very wise man told me before my purchase, "the F212 provides 90% of the performance of the Gotham at half the price."

When I've been in Ivan's theaters with his dual Gothams, the bass is insanely powerful. If you have kidney stones, there is no need for lithotripsy. Just sit in the theater and just let the stones get pulverized.

That's what I needed to hear. I think I'll end up with two 212's. All in that'll cost me less than the cost of one Gotham. I'd rather have the performance of 4 drivers vs a nice looking set of 2.

IMO, the design of the Gotham's cabinet is the reason for its superior sound. I do believe that 2 or 4 is better than 1 sub. I think 2 f113 would sound better than 1 Gotham not because the quality of the f113 is so close to the Gotham but because two subs are much easier to work with dialing in a room. I love the Gothams, they are much more than I need but I like the extra headroom and the effortless bass they provide.

Quote:
I have two F212's in my HT paired with WA Alexia, mezzo and Alidas. Really happy with the results and don't lack any solidity in the lower frequency bands. 2 got hams would likely sound even better but for me the 212 was plenty I have a single 113 paired with Alidas wall mounted in my study. For that size room the single 13 is sufficient |

I ordered a pair of 212's from Ivan. Gotham seem to be a slight increase sonically, a big eye candy value, but at a huge cost. I'm sure adding four 12's will really bring it all together. Can't wait!
