gadawg - You are absolutely right! That was the first thing I noticed when I finished un-boxing the 601's and placed them next to the 2301s. The 601's are beasts...but the 2301s are in a league of their own! The other, perhaps even more telling factor was that I was able to setup the 601s by myself, whereas it took another pair of hands to get the same job done with the 2301s.

Life's been super busy for me the past month or so but never got around to posting this. I traded my MC452 for a pair of MC601s.

I just traded my new speakers in as well LOL and don't have the new ones in yet BUT just for the small amount of time before I shipped those Martin Logan 13's out, the 601's do present a bit of openness & effortless sound vs the 452. Not night and day. Sonically similar as most have said here. But noticeable...

More later on when I get to break in the new speakers in mid to late January.

What the 601's will be driving : https://www.martinlogan.com/clxart/index.php

Yes they are very nice speakers. I now have the Illusion center speaker and sold the Stage. The new center matches the sound of the CLX much better if you watch movies.

Good evening from Italy, a question for Ron, what do you think about replacing on the MC601, the 10 uF Rubicon electrolytic capacitors called C3 and C4, placed in series at the inputs, with a parallel formed by 10 uF and a 1 uF of the type not polarized (for example WIMA MPK1) ??
Can they be an upgrading for music quality ??
Thank you

Can anyone describe the sonic difference between 501 and 601? Is 601 more tight, bright and detailed? How is the difference in the bass, mids and highs?

Antonkk.......If you haven't already, read my McIntosh MC601 Review. The MC601's replaced a pair of MC501's in my living room system.
