Sad to see the V12 dying out. Love mine.

Yeah........... somehow I prefer the exhaust note from a 4-valve, twin-cam ICE rather than a recording. Heel & toe driving, shifting up & down while matching rpm to the engine/gear, etc., etc. All that changes with electric drive. Perhaps its akin to preferring LPs for serious listening.

I know this is an audio related site, but?

Though the sound of a V12 can be quite amazing, that engine configuration would probably still seem very special to you if you went completely deaf.

Honestly, one of the most amazing SOUNDING cars I ever heard was a Ferrari... Oh - and that PARTICULAR Ferrari only had 4 pistons banging away. And, yeah, it is worth more than most from the stable that have 12 of them.

People have been forecasting the death of the V12 for some time but it's still there though for a niche market.

I can't imagine Lambo or Ferrari stopping their V12 line any time soon. Buyers are still there.

You are probably correct "but" then again Ferrari doesn't offer a manual transmission in any current vehicle. Things do change.

I'm probably in the minority here but I welcome the electric performance car. I owned a v12 Ferrari for a few years (F12 Berlinetta). It was truly a magnificent machine but..... It threw off a lot of heat. It lived at the gas station. The sound was very nostalgic but it grew tiresome. (Don't flame me, this is a personal opinion).

I now have a Tesla Model S Performance. The acceleration easily surpasses that of the 740 HP F12. It's comfortable. Incredibly quiet. And it's a beast when you want that rush of linear, heart stopping torque. Time marches on. In a few generations, ICE supercars will be relegated to classic car shows.
