Not surprising that McIntosh would suggest that only McIntosh will be an improvement. Rubbish. Not McIntosh per se, just the idea that only McIntosh can offer a sonic improvement.

Gold Note recently announced a new USA distribution chain —

Gold Note Appoints Rutherford Audio Inc. Distributor for USA, also known as Gold Note USA.
Florence, Italy and Centennial, CO – Gold Note Audio, founded in Florence Italy in 2012, manufacturer of high-end luxury hi-fi electronics: streamers, loudspeakers, amplifiers, turntables and accessories announces the appointment of Rutherford Audio Inc. of Centennial, Colorado as its exclusive distributor for the USA market.
“I am very pleased to have Rutherford Audio Inc. as our official and exclusive distributor for the USA” said Mr. Maurizio Aterini, President and CEO of Gold Note Audio. “Over the past six years, we have been working towards finding a professional sales organization in the USA and we are happy to have extended our family with the team at Rutherford Audio Inc. and the addition of Gold Note USA.”
“Gold Note’s desire to deliver the best of Italy fits very well within our focus of representing high end European HiFi product lines” said Mr. Robb Niemann, CEO of Rutherford Audio Inc. “Gold Note represents that fine European craftsmanship that also represents an incredible value.”
While visiting the factory recently Norm Steinke Rutherford Audio’s USA president commented “It is so nice to see a family style factory where everyone works well together and eats lunch together, it’s not just the products working well together but the people, which is really the core to developing and delivering great products.” “It’s refreshing to find a company that puts its people first” commented Mr. Steinke.

Default Phono Pre

Good thread. Our local dealer is a Linn dealer.
Linn is intriguing as they have switched to digital in their highest end stages ("Urika II"). The claim is that this is the most perfect RIAA equalization possible.

Thoughts on this?

I agree on PH 10. It’s connected on the second Tonearm of my VPI Avenger next to my main phono Gryphon Legato Legacy.

Earlier on that Tonearm I had an iphono 2 and later a project box rs and a Pass XP 17.
The ph 10 was recommended by a friend who swears on this, its less than half the money of xp 17 and sounds much better. The dynamics, the bass the scene are way better.

Can’t be compared to the Gryphon Legato, but it’s a huge value for money

What's also nice is offering an upgrade path to many of their products —

The PSU-10 is a super inductive power supply exclusively designed for the PH-10 phono stage.

Engineered with the best quality audio-grade components PSU-10 features a dual choke design powered by a double inductor driving the negative and positive high current stages and featuring and inductive filter on the analogue stage.

The Gold Note proprietary Dual Chokes Design perfectly filters the signal voltages in order to eliminate all the possible electrical noise coming from the AC power system.

The PSU-10 uses its massive power supply to shield the PH-10 phono stage from electro-magnetic interferences thus insulating it effectively from the AC power system.

The large, ultra-clean power enhances super low noise, greater dynamic, better resolution and finer details for a more realistic high-end audio performance and pure audio pleasure.

PSU-10 is able to help PH-10 extracting every single detail guaranteeing the best dynamic, resolution and realism music experience listening to vinyl.

The PSU-10 can deliver high quality power using four transformers three of which are dedicated exclusively to the pure power supply and with one separated transformer dedicated to the inductive filter.

It's in my plans for later this year. I'm on a digital kick for now.

Missunderstanding. What i said is that MP100 would not improve the MA8000 phono built in, only the MP1100 would do it (inside the mcintosh product range)
