Default Behind the Curve Netflix

Flat Earth... It is a movement that is gaining steam and finding supporters by the droves all over the world.

Don't miss the Behind the Curve documentary available on Netflix. Who are the Flat Earth believers, what makes them tick, why such blind following with all the evidence available today that the Earth is not FLAT?

If anyone watches this documentary, as an audiophile, I think some of the aspects also apply to us.

In the face of absolute absence of scientific proof of say cables, tweaks, making a difference, we press on undeterred.

Perhaps not everything that can be heard can be measured.

With the aging “audiophile ear” that often cannot hear above 13-16KHz as well as pronounced “notch” filtering going on it is often the case that it can neither be measured nor heard.

But the inverse is happening here: we press on in the absence of proof, flat-earthers press on in the presence of proof.

Our audiophile “beliefs” seem to be much more contained and are harmless other than one’s wallet.

The Flat Earth crowd quickly disintegrates into all kinds of conspiracy theories and a general belief that everything scientific is a lie.

I have a college educated friend who works in the medical field. I’ve witnessed him fall into that rabbit hole over the last few years and he is starting to worry me. When I present him with the question of who exactly built the dome of the flat earth, he said he has no idea but “they” are hiding the truth. Who is they?? I reminded him we certainly do not have the technology to build a dome so perhaps it would be wise to either take religion more seriously or explore the Raelieniasm since those are the only two entities who could have created flat earth and the dome. I think that helped somewhat.. I hope.

I would have thought that he would had answered "the government", almost like
the alien conspiracy and to which we could ask back, "when was the dome
built then?" which would be enticing one since we still don't have the remote
possibility to build one, let alone in the past. If they can't even answer
'who built it' just shows how the whole concept is unbelievable to conceive
and yet there are so many followers.

Denying science and reality in a variety of areas seems to be a growing phenomenon, but as Neil deGrasse Tyson said, “The good thing about science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it."

I watched it. The conspiracy theorist people baffle me
As the documentary explains, this is a psychological phenomenon and people who believe in one conspiracy tend to believe in multiple. They dismiss without understanding data and evidence. I really wonder how they function in their regular lives. It’s ironic that they happily use the tools of modern science (like GPS smart phones) while rejecting the science behind it. Regrettably, I am the recipient of tons of emails from these deniers.
