Since psychologically, "new" often means "better", I tend to test my different gear to my ears by keeping them side by side at least for one year. After one year of listening to A and B, I can be really sure of what I prefer.
This is how I chose the CCQs over the 2301's for example and how I chose the GAT over the Giscours. And this is how I chose Shindo over Halgorythme.
That is my way to know if the horizon is really " better " or just a mirage.
Anyway as years go by and experience is gained, I tend to be more and more discriminative and know more precisely what I am looking for.
And I can tell you that Shindo will never leave my home. One way or an other. For example I have a preamp in one system and power amps in the other system.
Seems to me that the day Shindo will be out of the home, then a huge part of my listening pleasure will be gone. For whatever reason.
Shindo is not for everyone but I remember so well the deep love you felt for this sound, and that you expressed so well, you and Alberto, that somehow, I feel
sad that you both went to other horizons.
Which is plain stupid because as you say, there are many great things in this hobby.
But I just cannot refrain myself from this feeling.
BTW what is your system now ? Only headphones or you have also speakers ?
Jerome, words of wisdom my friend. Taking on new gear and only letting go of one or the other at some time in the future once the dust settles is very wise. No regrets will follow that decision.

I had much love for Shindo but at that time my interest in my theater room where I had the Wilson and D'Agostino keeping me very busy, I felt I just wasn't listening to it enough and I would let it go to someone who would. Yes, perhaps should have boxed them up and kept in the closet for later use but oh well...

I am all headphones right now but am taking my time and planning a return to full range speakers but it will not be anything close to what I had before since I don't have a room appropriately big for a project like that nor do I feel I need to spend crazy $$$ to get there again. I am perfectly happy just to be listening to music and enjoying the budget gear for the time being.

Hello Jérôme,

Thanks for answering, but it was your Rega P9 on PAB Reference SE platform... as you put it above the pics I was looking at.
Sorry, next time I'll read more carefully your words!

Anyhow, you have a beautiful system in a nice room.

Thanks Serge.
The cables would need to be hidden.

Pretty nice, especially for “just” a bedroom system. I see another Squeezebox Touch, too. I have one in storage and one still in use in my workshop, it’s amazing how ahead of their time these little boxes were.

All my systems use a SB Touch but with an outboard linear psu and a dac of course.
