If yes, this is a great way to go with that Leben. Zu Audio Omen. 98dB and 12 ohm nominal! As tube friendly as it gets and cheap!

Hi Serge,

Thanks for the recommendation. I will go listen to these speakers when time permits. Meanwhile, I am waiting for the Leben matching Phono Stage - The RS 30EQ (sneak it in too) before making the next move.

Definitely need high to very high efficiency speakers to match. I'll be watching the USED market as I want to maximize my available dollars as this is NOT something supported nor encouraged by my wife. These days I cant write checks as freely as before 2010. Gone are the "freedom" days! If there's any spending, it will have to be saved and scrimped ... from somewhere of course!

Cheers!

Jerry, I am very good at reading minds and between the lines. Your post told me instantly that you will wind up with much more expensive speakers than the ones I suggested.

Oh, here's the DUEVEL Planets pictures taken from their website. On the left, the glossy black is really nice looking with metal feet instead of the usual rubber.

Although they were spec to be at only a "tough" 85db, somehow, the Leben made music with them and at respectable loudness and finess.

Jerry, they are 85dB and 4 ohms... Not very tube friendly.

Just because the amp reached respectable loudness does not mean it was sounding it's best. Kick a male opera singer in the groin and he will also make sound but probably not his best.

Now THAT is an analogy that communicates!

Serge,

You REALLY is a "CLOSE" friend ... cause you really read my mind ...

I am actually sold on a new Avantgarde Combo - Their latest XA Pre/Power matching their latest Mezzo G2's. Plus "personal customization", like having your name engraved onto the amps and speakers! Wow!

BUT then, its a huge system that needed space and for me to have 2 such large system (I still like the Meridian and will keep it) needs a lot of selling (and buying of a new home). The new home part I dont need to hard sell cause my wife is working me to get it ... so, there's an opportunity somewhere to negotiate for space ...

As for speakers matching the Leben, these will be small bookshelves. It will be the bedroom or better still, for the study room.

I am dreaming a lot these days. Just hope I dont get a slap from my wife to "wake up my ideas" - as the military term says!

Cheers!
