Default MBL+Burmester

I am thinking of a marriage between 2 german powehouses, a MBL 6010D preamp and Burmester 911 MK3 amp. Any comments or suggestions? Thanks.

Why not just get a Burmester preamp? Or even an ARC REF5? Another great choice.... Nagra works well too.

As we discussed in my earlier PM why would you want to mix house sounds from different manufacturers? I can understand why some would prefer Burmester over MBL or visa versa. That said mixing Burmester amps with a tube pre-amp even if it is as accomplished as AR or AN makes no sense to me.

+1

I equate the preamp & amp like an engine & drivetrain. I would always keep them in the same family for the best synergy possible.

The 911 sounds great with a REF 5. Personally, I prefer the sound of the 011/911 combination with the REF Phono 2 to that of the 011/911 with 100 phono.

I haven't always achieved the absolute best synergy with all one mfr. (though I have more often than not)

If there's anything I've experienced with the Burmester electronics, it's that they seem to play well with others, perhaps better than just about anything else I've tried. McIntosh is up there as is Nagra, CJ and ARC.

Not worth going into. Not fair to the people that like it.
