Howie.......You're right, these are very interesting speakers. The internal scalloped bracing is reminiscent of how a guitar is tuned and braced. The enclosure is designed to be part of the reproduction of sound. There's a healthy looking crossover built into the base, as well.

I built all the cabinets(except the doors).
My wife was tired of the room looking like
a video store so I built drawers to hold all
the movies.

I have had the Kef's for 2 weeks now.
Just finished the new stands this morning.
With the speakers out in the room my
Trinnov processor sets the left and right
at 76hz.
