thankfully there are some great posts so I have soem ideas how to build a pair of stands and even perhaps upgrade the back of the cabinets (baltic birch).

Maybe even send the drivers to GPA...likely sometime next year

I didn't do this yet... but realized that I should have a long time ago while working on the 604 project. Put a cross brace on the back like the stock back. You use a nice piece of 1" x 2" or 3" wood 1/2 way down. Just glue and screw with maybe 3 screws into back.

BTW does anyone have a picture of teh A23 adaptors for the speaker terminals? I am thinking about teh one which would allow you to use bananas or spades? I found one online for $240 is that reasonable or way too much?

Yeah it is, but now I'd recommend the Duelund oiled cotton stranded tinned copper wire. 16 GA. Parts Connexion has it on sale for $10 a meter. It's basically an all natural version of the Belden 9497 but even more all about the tone. But bang for the buck you can't go wrong with the Belden - it is awesome!

Thanks. I am using the WE 16GA tinned copper wire for speaker wire and like teh sound a lot.
Frankly I am listening to the speakers with the Shindo gear, A23 speaker cables SONY ES777 SACD and it sounds harsh. The osudn with teh Almarro and teh Sony playstation was just pure pleasure. Same music. Hmmm..
OK I need to try some LPs now.

I've been thinking about trying the Duehlend in place of the 9497 from XO to drivers. The tinned copper is what Luna cables use. Art wrote about them a few months ago. Not sure if you noticed the latest issue, where Art replaces his 846A's with a pair of Flamenco's. He explains there was a difference in sound. I have a 1 meter Lunainterconnect IC on loan. I will be trying it on my turntable as a phono cable soon. I run a 9 meter A23 SC, so not sure if I will ever try anything in it's place. If I do, it may be the Duehlend. Gorgeous work Josh!!!

Sancho- I have the A23 adapters. They took like 3 months to arrive, but they are very nicely made, and as you would imagine, a perfect fit for the A23 bananas. That price is high. I think mine were $60 per set. I'm going on memory there!

Thank you! Art replaced his Valencias with Flamencos?! Haha he kept making fun of the Moorish grills (it's a West Coast thing I guess). They should sound just about the same - same drivers, same crossover, same volume. The box dimensions are slightly different, but same type of panels. Same bracing, etc...

I'm going to run all of the Duelund wire for my 604 boards and to the drivers. Easy to get, good quality, looks good, and the type of construction I like without any plastic. Fair price too. Nice...

The A23 speaker cable is nice no reason to play with Gucci wire there. For interconnects I'd recommend Belden 8412 with Switchcraft connectors. About $50 for a meter or two but hard to find pre-made.

P.S.: Sancho let us know about your journey. I think the stock crossovers implode at moderate levels. Also, usually you have to have the horns turned down out 50-60% of the way.

Valencia grills are usually janky so maybe he got tired of running them raw dog. If you tap on the Flamenco grills you can get them to rattle but I've never noticed when not giving them the ol' hammer fist.
