Local Chess Club
I was at the local library last Friday to help my wife return the books she had signed out and when she took the elevator to go up to the 2nd floor, where the Mystery section is located, she noticed a flyer about a chess club starting up on the first Friday of every month. After dinner I went over to check it out and there was about a half dozen people who showed up. We got three chess sets going and had some games as we rotated around to different tables. We got to know each other as we chatted while playing. Hopefully we can add some additional players as the weeks go on, but we've already graduated to a private room and we're going to meet every Friday night.

It was funny the first week. There were four of us playing and a new guy walks in and the guy that organized the club was showing him around and the guy tells our organizer that he's the 7th ranked player in Delaware and was wondering if there was any competition. Our organizer says sure do you know Bill over there ( Bill is the 3rd ranked player in the state ). He knew Bill.

I hired a grandmaster to play while living in Europe twice a week for two years.
No luck involved in Chess; I never could dream of beating him. (Ok, I dreamed about it but it never came close to happening) That's what happens when he has a rating of 2631 - though only ranked 215th in the world now. Last edited by Freestone; 02-18-2013 at 06:16 PM.
