So Lucky! - 30th anniversary edition K-01X

I have to share this with fellow AA's as my wife has no real idea what this all really means, but for me I feel most fortunate!

After reading about the 30th anniversary edition K-01/03X units a little while ago I wondered whether there was any chance of securing one. After some phone calls and back and forth with the Australian dealer for Esoteric he told me he was able to secure a single unit of the Bordeaux K-01X, although the K-03X was more in line with my price point! I figured this was too good an opportunity to pass up so I locked this in and expect to receive in a few weeks, the only one coming into Oz!

I'm currently using an Oppo 103D as a spinner and C2500 as my DAC so hoping the K-01X will be a big step up. This will also be my very first Esoteric product which is exciting!!

I must thank people on this forum for their advice and expertise given I'm still on a steep learning curve. I'd never known much about Esoteric before but I'm excited about the prospect of this piece joining my system!

Once it's arrived and settled in I will post some pics and thoughts!

Jamie,...congratulations on the new K-01X Anniversary Edition; once you lay eyes and hands on it, feel and see the build quality and attention to detail of Esoteric units including their obsessive levels of packaging and more importantly hear the unit, you will know what a great decision you have just made. Watch the weight of the unit; you are in for a surprise! It is also a great stroke of luck to get the Anniversary Edition. I'd lay odds that you will not feel a need to utilize that DAC at least initially and probably permanently once you hear what the K-01X's capabilities as it is a HUGE, with capital letters, upgrade. Very happy for you and cannot wait for your feedback! There are a large number of options for playback including upsampling, filters, etc....there are many Esoteric owners here (including myself) who will be glad to help answer any questions you will have. I remember my first Esoteric unit and the shock over realizing that I'd entered a whole new realm of build quality & sound (a DV-50s, followed by a P-0 many years ago and many steps up since); I cannot imagine jumping into the line at the top of the stack of single-box players as you are about to do; it must be a great feeling!!! It will be for sure. I went from the Oppo BDP-105 to the K-01X, same Transparent cables swapped.Be prepared for instruments buried within the track along with vocals with tone and texture and feeling. I never tapped my feet while listening to the Oppo. With the Esoteric all of the time. Enjoy it when you get it hooked up and please keep us posted.
