Hello SLM,

Sorry, I cannot answer your question, but I do have a couple of questions for you.
Do you currently own the Nines? Do you live in the Philly area? These speakers are high on my search list, but I would like to hear a pair first.

Cheers,
John

I use the Nines with a Ref 75. They are a great combination. Of course, I like the Nines with about any amp. That is one of the things I like about them. Just about any amp can drive them, without the quirkiness of horns. And the bass on the Nines is, as you know, superb!
Similarly, the Ref 75 sounds great on anything. Put the two together, and they sound great.

I use the Nines with Naim 252/250 and they are superb. btw I have them on a wooden (old) loft floor and wonder if anyone has tried Spiral Groove Strange Attractors. The guy downstairs often congratulates me on my taste in music, which is very forgiving, but if decouplers would both aid performance and reduce what travels through the floor, I'd be willing to make the rather large investment.

I have the Nines and have found them wonderfully responsive to various amplifiers.

I started out using a Rogue Atlas. My previous setup had been a Rogue Zeus driving Thiel 2.3s.

I heard the Nines at two dealers. The first paired Manley gear and the second was Shindo. I knew once I got the speakers they could shine.

The Atlas was good, but not really resolving enough. I went then to a Rogue Stereo 90 Super Magnum. That was a nice pairing. Deep bass an crisp highs. Very musical. I tried a Pass XA-30 for a while and that seemed to sharpen things up. All the while I was using a modified preamp from Bob Backert.

I've since moved to the Ayre AX-5 and I am amazed at how good this is.

This is a very long post to say the Nines are a wonderful speaker that will shine with great gear behind them.
