An R2R would be fun - pretty nichey though.

How about McIntosh taking over the OppO UDP-205 and UDP-203 players? A bit of cosmetics along with McIntosh customer support could make for a successful long term player.

Current mvp 901 is based on the previous generation Oppo. I was hopeful they would clone the 203 and add their own dac and power stage but not likely anymore. Matter of fact there is no UHD player to oem. I started a thread about this on another forum. It seems physical media is on its last leg. Denon, Marantz, Onkyo and Yamaha for the first time has no disc players in their line up. Pioneer has one. Theta in the past used Pioneer players as the base for their transports. Maybe Mcintosh can license this last gen UHD player. Mvp 931-951 were Panasonic based. Maybe they could use the current Panasonic UHD player.

Are you sure?

Denon USA shows several disc players on its site: DCD-1600NE; DED-800NE; DCD-50.

Marantz is showing PMD-326C; PMD-500D; PMD-526C.

Onkyo lists C-7000R; C-7070; C-7030; DX-C390.

Yamaha shows BD-A1060; BD-S681.

Referencing new Blu-Ray players. Specifically how they haven’t jumped on the 4K UHD train and it’s been several years.

The Marantz UD7007 was marantz last, from 2013? The similar Denon DBT-3313 from the same year. It’s not like 4K UHD is something new.

I'm not sure. I'm still receiving updates from Oppo for many series back, including the most recent ones. With Mc's update record, Oppo updates could come to a crashing halt.

I was thinking lighter weight components. A better option would be more upper body strength to comfortably lift those heavy autoformer amps.
