I've been browsing the PurePower site and like the Furman the units can accept external units for adding more battery backup, seems you can add up to 2 external units. Anyone know how the external units connect? Also I see an interesting option, the units come standard with Hubbell outlets but you can switch to Furutech's FPX outlets, either the copper, gold or rhodium. I wonder if they would allow you to add Furutech's GTX outlets
I haven't been able to find any rear panel photos of these units which is odd. |

I finally found pictures of the backs of the PurePower units as well as the battery extension modules.

The PurePower and APC units do produce pure sine waves. I also just finished reading that the APC units can also connect to external batteries, up to 2 can be daisy chained for 200% battery life.

Looking into the prices the Furman and APC units are relatively comparable, the APC stretches out a bit for the S20 though. The PurePower units are quite a bit more than the other two. This is going to be a tough decision.
It looks like the PurePower units would allow for the most usage during a power outage given the number of external modules that can be added. Plus as a more high end audio/video geek feature is the option of adding the Furutech outlets Both the APC and PurePower units have detachable power cords so after marker cords can be added so that's a bit of a plus. The Furman's power cord is built in which is unfortunate. The APC has the most outlets at 12 followed by the PurePower (the +1500 in my case) at 10 (the +2000 and +3000 both have 12, 10 15a outlets plus 2 twist lock high current outlets) then the Furman at 8. One thing I find odd about the PurePower+ 1500, the only 15a device out of the 3 PurePower units, it actually has a 20a IEC even though it's a true 15a device. The cable that comes with it is a 20a to 15a cable. Very odd design choice. I wonder why they used a 20a IEC and not a 15a one. Last edited by Rod#S; 10-13-2015 at 08:02 AM. |
