Lutron’s founder, Joel Spira, invented the thyristor solid State incandescent light dimmer in the 50’s.

Lutron produces far better dimmers than any other manufacturer, especially in terms of radiated and conducted EMI/RFI. They have over 2700 patents worldwide.

Lutron is an employee-owned company based in Pennsylvania. Their President, Mike Pessina, is a standup person in every respect.

I have installed about 30 Lutron Caseta dimmers in my home. I have no trouble whatsoever with EMI and RFI.

Before I changed out a few off-brand dimmers, I had severe EMI that made it difficult to use my HF ham radio gear. All that is gone now.

Can you tell, I’m a fan?

I used Lutron Diva from Home depot for LED and CFL for around $25 each.
I also tried Leviton Decora. I think there was a third one but there are far too many on the website for me to narrow it down.

Just plugged my Emotiva in.
The amp was quieter than normal before ( so I'll have to test it again when the amp is humming loud again), after I plugged it in the amp hum got louder! Speaker white noise increased a little too. It's weird because I have my isotek evo3 sigmas plugged into the emotiva.
The problem is that I'm testing the emotiva dc blocker when the amp is hard to hear, it's like bringing the car into the mechanic to look at something that isn't quite broken.

Try plugging Amp>Emotiva CMX-2>Isotek EVO3 Sigmas>Wall

For years I too have had a hum from my McIntosh MC207, and because of this thread and Ivans suggestion, I purchased the Emotiva CMX-2. The hum has finally disappeared both from the amp itself and through the speakers.

It worked by plugging MC207>Emotiva CMX-2>PS Audio Quintet>Wall.

It did not work by plugging Amp>PS Audio Quintet>Emotiva CMX-2>Wall.

So a big thanks to Ivan for the suggestion.

Hope it works for you Mouse.

Ron

I'll give it a shot. Apparently I was doing it wrong.

I have to agree there are some dimmers which work better than others. Even for life expectancy of the bulb off the dimer. Years back I bought a dimmer and the bulb on it blew every two months. Different brand dimmer and the bulb lasted years. The bulbs in my bedroom on a dimmer have lasted eleven years now. Since I moved in..(and I turn them on and off every day multiple times a day 3 incandescent 100w) I have not changed them to LED since they may outlast me.
I have no DC problems either... that I know of.
(even though I rent, I do have a dedicated 20 amp circuit for the stereo)
