It really is apples to oranges. SilenZio is a very different music server.

BTW: I have a SilenZio in each of my different systems.

Does it do MQA? Roon and Tidal?

MQA is entirely software dependent.

Silenzio would technically be a Roon Core+Output (and, at that, a beast-mode one) with Tidal integrated via Roon.

I haven't checked in with the Roon guys in several months, but I know earlier in the year they were promising MQA unfolding within Roon; I'm not 100% sure if a recent update has this in effect yet, though. I thought with v1.5 it is "live" - but I haven't personally tested it (I don't use Tidal).

Thanks. Is that a yes?

I'm currently running Roon/Tidal with an iMac as core, by ethernet into an OPPO 205, then balanced out into mt Bryston SP3.

I tried a Roon Nuc, but for some reason It wouldn't play in my system, despite Roon trying for at leas 6 weeks to come up with a solution, so I sent it back.

I also have a Bryston BDP3 that no one can or will tell me why I can't play it's USB out into the OPPO so I can get full MQA.

Oh, just noticed the second part of your post. Yes, Roon has implemented MQA, but it only does the first part in Roon. You need hardware (like my OPPO) to get the whole deal.

Another question--I do very little physical media anymore--95%+ streaming. Do I need a NAS, or does the SilenZio work as a streamer?server? In other words, will it and my DAC (OPPO or whatever) work together and give me what I want, or do I need other hardware (not including preamp, etc of course)?

If you only do streaming, you'd only need Silenzio and no other storage options. If you had minimal storage needs (2-4TB), Silenzio can be built with internal SSDs to accommodate. If you need bigger or want to use a NAS, that is entirely your choice, too, and fully compatible/expandable/scalable.

All my discs fit on about 128 gigabytes. Don't have plans to increase that, as I just love streaming.

Wow. That is dedication to streaming! I don't think I could ever let go of "my data." Yes, it sounds crazy.

I just don't have a lot of discs. Got tired of buying music and not liking it. BTW, I meant to say 128 Gigabytes, not Megabytes, but you know what I mean. Will edit previous post.

The beauty of streaming to me is the low cost compared to buying discs or downloads, especially when I may only ever listen to them once. If I don't like what i stream, I just move on.

Ivan, I was so happy to hear that your pair of BIT-15 worked out well with the big amps that I just ordered another one for my system. I'll now be able to run each of my amps off a separate BIT-15, rather than directly off the wall. Cheers
