I have a CR-7A in near mint condition, although not used in years.

I still use my Dragon...it sounds wonderful...especially after Willy Hermann did an upgrade.

Does anyone know how the Dragon compares to the 1000 series? I've read that the 1000's technology was more "advanced" and was/still is more expensive than the Dragon, but does it sound better? Everything I read indicates that the Dragon is the "best," but is that relative to cost? Or in absolute terms?
Looking at my old mountain of cassettes and reading about these beasts it making me seriously consider getting one. While both are no doubt vastly superior to my JVC TD-W10, I only want to buy ONE four figure cassette deck. |

I bought a CR7A because to me it sounded marginally better than the Dragon however I preferred the look of the Dragon better. A dilemma.

Well got my DRAGON back from Willy.
This thing showed my CR-7A the door. https://youtu.be/WPScF_a_L78 Don't have a 1000ZXL yet. Working on it. |

Bringing this one back from the dead, I recently got my Dragon back from service with the intention of selling it. Until I saw the specs the tech measured. W&F is .017% in fwd and .015% in rev. FR at -20db is 11-23kHz +/- 3db. As great as that is, I'm ever happier to have my ZX-9 back in shape, it has a power supply recap and a full orange cap replacement.
