C2300 or C47 - is it large difference in transparency?
I changed from a C50 to a C2600 and immediately noticed that "acoustic" instruments and voices sounded "more musical".

I ordered a set of matched Genalex Gold Lion tubes, and the C2500 sounds even better.

Default MA8900 vs MA252 and XR50 speakers

Anybody out there! I have half way agreed upon a MA252 and the xr50 speakers with the dealer. My heart is aiming for the MA8900 although its a bit more pricy... Anybody pls. recommend! What about Streaming and/or CD player for the system.....?

You would be geting more McIntosh with the MA8900. Latest chassis design with best internal technologies in a full-featured 200 watt integrated amplifier with autoformers and upgradable 32-bit DAC. Long-term investment, especially if you ever get larger speakers. One of the company's best looking components ever.

Plus the XR50's will like the extra power from the MA8900.

Question

New to this site so forgive me. Just got a C2700 Mc preamp which, as you know, has no dedicated subwoofer output. I'm running XLRs to my amplifier from the Main Out. Can I hook up a subwoofer using the 2 RCA outputs in the Main Out, e.g. without using a crossover or other component?

Welcome alnote to the best audio site on the web. I don’t believe you can use both XLR and RCA for same output. Use output 2 RCA if available. What brand of sub?

Does your sub have XLR’s? If so, use the second pair of XLR outputs.

My sub does not have XLR inputs. It is a Definitive Technology, 15".
