Default Speaker suggestions and room ?

Ok here's the deal. My wife and I are currently looking for a new home. Apparently she wants me to have my own space . I am currently taking a spare room with theater gear and our living room is packed with Magnepan 3.6's and my rack. Problem is our budget is pretty much set about $30,000 less than what would be the perfect amount to have a nice big room. Currently most homes we are looking at have a bonus room created from a finished attic space. That means sloped ceilings and not too big. So I would most likely not have room for my Maggie's if we went with this type of room. My questions are 1. What would you suggest in the 3-4g range for speakers that would keep up with the good attributes of 3.6's? Number 2. is it worth having a room with sloped side walls, acoustically is this a nightmare? We may end up just waiting for the perfect home to come along.

Some say the sloped roof is better. That's what I have. I invested about $1500 in acoustic treatments and with Dan's help, improved conditions 10 fold.

As for speakers in that price range? Sonus Faber Venere 3.0.

I wish I could find a room that size. If you cut the width in half and add 10 deg to the slope you have what I have been finding.

No worries. Seriously, go with a used pair of Sonus Faber Guanari Homage. They are older, but sound unbelievable. There was a pair for sale on the 'Gon a while back for about $5k. A stretch I know, but amazing. If you can find a pair of used Guanari Mementos for a good price, that's another idea (the ones in my pic). They are small, but mighty! I bought subs thinking I needed them. Ha! Was I wrong. Treat the room and you won't need subs, unless your "thing" is Black Eyed Peas Boom Boom Pow!

Several members here have a listening room with sloped ceiling/walls as you describe and have very effectively used it with some very advanced systems. JeromeW and Charles as well as Mike (above) have this type of room. Take a look at the "members' systems" threads and you will see. http://www.audioaficionado.org/member-system-forum/

I've owned four pairs of Maggie's. They never did boom boom for me! . The 1.6's I had with the Sunfire subs did though!

Don't sweat it. The room works or we can make it work with the right treatments. I used ATS Acoustics.

Ok so the sloped ceiling is not going to be an acoustical nightmare. Now I just need to figure out if the speakers have room to breath. Here is a pic of the bonus room, pretty tight if thinking about my Maggie's

I would say those closets are about 6.4ft for a size reference. This is the reason I was asking about different speakers. Man the rest of this house is so nice though, I want to like it. But I fear this room may be to small
