Thank you for the kind words my friends !

Alexander....I did not ask how long would be the waiting but it will be long. So better not to ask !

Yes Dan, DeVore designs speakers to work with a very large variety of amps. I will finally hear my Shindo amps on friendly speakers.

I have to buy new speaker cables because the binding posts on the Silverbacks are very high and my 1 meter WWSE6 won't be long enough.
Will probably try A23 cables.

Honestly guys, at least on the pics, I do not find the SB's very sexy. The good thing is that they are narrow. But their look is very conventional.
I could not say that they are as sexy as my WP8 and my Rega RS10's. And I find my Super 8's much more elegant.
Moreover I am not a fan of black speakers and the black front baffle was so annoying that I even asked John DeVore if I could have a custom made other color. He said yes, which really surprised me but then I thought about the drivers being black, the baffle being an other color and the sides again an other color....this would more look like a carnival costume than a speaker so I changed my mind and kept them as they are.

I may change my mind about their look when I will see them in person. It happened to me a few times. Some gear is not photogenic.

Anyway they will be in the dedicated room so esthetics, although important, is not the highest value in this room.

I just could not resist anymore to try the top of the line DeVore speakers, after reading impressive reviews, after knowing what the little sisters (Super 8's ) do, and after reading John's opinion on the SB sound compared to the O96 and the new Gibbon X. I am also very curious to see what this great designer call a "Reference".

For many reasons.

The most important one being that with age, my various experiences in both speakers and amps in my home, the listenings I had at dealers and shows, the articles I read from highly respected reviewers and the talks I had with designers, and other audiophiles, all those tend to the idea that for my ears, the best approach in audio is to amplify very easy speakers ( not necessarily very high eff ones ) with very few watts amplifiers.
My experience showed me that little amps are more musical than big ones. Once again, TO MY EARS.

In this philosophy, tough Wilson loads like the Alexia's have no place.

DeVore, Verity Audio, Avant Garde, Harbeth, some ProAcs, Tannoy, and many others are in the game.

I respect the tough load / big amps approach.
Musically speaking, those systems can sound awesome too. But the idea of itjust does not make sense to me.
Like having a Ferrari with an amount of breaking always active and needing huge power to overcome it, or having a Ferrari and attach to it a caravan.

To summarize, I won't buy any speaker that could not be driven perfectly by a MC225 amplifier.
