I have also heard both arms in real life but not in a direct A/B comparison. I always found that the older arm didn't keep me engaged while the newer 3D arm kept me in my seat for long periods of time. To my ears, the newer one has a smoother sound that gets rid of the slight fatigue I got from their older arm. Of course, they were in different systems so there were many other variables as well but the digital files seem to capture the difference I heard. At the end of the day, the only appropriate source is your own ears.

So I liked file B-- even through my laptop with headphones. I'm ready for the 3D. Is there a market for the JMW 10.5?

Can you mount two arms on your turntable? Why not have both arms?

(maybe--dunno). I have a Classic3 but have no interest (at this time) in having two tonearms.

Not sure if there is a market for the JMW 10.5 with the popularity of the 3D arm. If you end up taking too much of a loss in upgrading then it might not be worth it.

Sold my old 10.5i signature with valhalla wiring for $500 in 1 day about 3 months ago. There are people that prefer the metal arms or looking for a cheap way to add a 2nd cart.

That has been the going rate these days. I also sold one, standard Discovery wiring for around that price.
